Amazing Grays!

Do you see them?

Maybe it's because I'm turning 40 in a couple of weeks, or maybe it's because I'm a grandma to 2 sweet grand babies expecting her 10th baby, but some days those grays really stand out to me!

There are days that I am tempted to go buy a box of Clairol {or whatever it is people buy} and cover every last wild, corkscrew, gray hair on my head.  But to be honest, I have a husband who reminds me {frequently} that they are my crown!

Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.
 ~ Proverbs 16:31~

I truly am so blessed to have a man who finds my crazy grays a compliment to my appearance.  And I am relieved that I am "off the hook" when it comes to succumbing to the pressures of society saying that I need to stay young forever!  It sure makes working on "letting my adornment be that of a gentle and quiet spirit" {1 Peter 3:4} so much easier! {Not that I've achieved that yet!!!}

Just thinking about and being grateful for an amazing man that keeps me grounded in the truth!

Here are a couple of more shots to try to get a better view of some of the more wild ones! {It's really hard to take pictures of yourself ~ I'm not sure how other bloggers out there do it!!!}

I'd love to hear your opinion on to go gray or not to go gray and why!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be Refreshed!

  2. I say Rock it Mama Cook! I color my hair(when I'm not pregnant) because I find it fun. Also because I'm 22 and have gray hairs. It's something I'm working on. But Eric and I have fun picking out new colors to try. =)

  3. I think you look fabulous! But I totally hear ya. I am really hoping to have really nice grey/silver and possibly thicker hair....really hoping. I used to dye my hair a lot before kids but it came back darker and darker with each so I was happy with it. I'm feeling like you are (go figure, haha...kindred spirits and all). I'm feeling "mousy" and have thought about color too. I'm just not sure about the maintenance and then having a change in my hair because of it, causing me to color it into really old age. Decisions, decisions...

  5. Can't see any grays in the photos but did see them the last time I saw you...they are beautiful and, yes, your crown of glory. You were the one who talked me into staying gray, remember? I can't even imagine the hassle of keeping it up any more. You are so beautiful and so are your grays. I say don't color...your a grandma now, suppose to hav grays, right????

  6. I can't see them either, must be my 48 year old eyes. I started getting grays (white) I was 24, so I can relate to Annika. I tried dying it one time, and that was a disaster. I have a lot of folks tell me I'd look younger, prettier whatever if I'd dye my hair, wear makeup, etc etc. I don't like doing those things, and I don't care about clothes, as long as they are clean, but I don't like dressing up. This is me. Why do I need to make myself look different to be more acceptable? It finally boiled down to.....I like who I am, and tif you are the type that has a problem with what I look like, then bottom line, I don't value your opinion! I'm sure I don't give children nightmares when they gaze on me. Some folks think I have low self esteem because I don't do those things to look nicer. But really....I like me just as I am, and don't feel I have to be different to please anyone else. Sooooo....I say, if it makes you feel good do it......if it doesn't.....don't feel like you should do it!

  7. I prefer to call them 'silver' hairs. :) And you are beautiful inside and out.

  8. I color my hair for fun! Brandan loves the spontaneity, and we've only been together a couple years so there should be spontaneity there! If that's the result of going blonde for a month, I will take it over other drastic, less changeable manners. And, when I am my natural color...I DON'T LOOK FOR GRAYS! Not that I am in denial, nor that I don't want to see them, I just simply don't care. Our family grays early, so I probably have them already, I honestly don't know because I have never looked. He sees me as beautiful, so what do I care what color my hair is?!...I am sure there will be one day when I look in the mirror and notice my whole head has changed, which will only bring a smile to my face, because really, who cares?! (Said with a smile, not angst) ;)

  9. I have never dyed my hair and am very happily graying naturally. It's going straight to white and right now really is "silver threads among the gold." It's hard to catch in a photograph too.

    I've had no desire to color my hair after my mom had a bad allergic reaction to hair dye years ago and went gray. As she got older people often commented on her beautiful white hair.

    I'm in my 50's and if I wasn't "graying gacefully" I might feel different. But my hair is my crown and I'm loving it.
