Hand Holding! {With an update on Zion}

{via}

They didn't notice me, but I noticed them!

Monday I was waiting for Zion to be seen at our local Children's Hospital.  A couple walked in, obviously new to the "Children's Experience."  As they navigated their way through security, checking in, and then each looking for signs to direct them where to go, instinctively they reached their hand out to the other.  Catching hold of each other, a look of relief passed between them.

Today {Wednesday}, as the kiddos and I walked home from the store...Hudson started crying out, "Someone hold my hand!!!  Hold my hand!"  Then catching himself, calmly asking, "Would someone please hold my hand!"

I turned and said, "Sure Hudson!  I'd love to hold your hand!  I love holding hands, wanna' know why?"

He looked at me, and I answered...

"Because it's a good reminder that you're not alone!"

A quick update on Zion ~

Today he was seen at the Urology Clinic following an ultrasound of his kidneys.  The ultrasound showed noticeable improvement to his kidneys!  While they are still dilated, they have more "working tissue" than the previous ultrasound, and the ureter are no longer swollen!!!

We are praising God for His healing hand and praying for continued healing for Zion!

Tomorrow we see the Nephrologist {kidney specialist} who will give her opinion of the ultrasound...we are expecting good news from her as well!

Thank you to all who have joined us in imploring the Lord for his hand on Zion!

Next follow up appointment in November!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider...

Do you see him?

Yep, this little, itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny, eight-legged, nemesis was the culprit who sent my, tough to the core, 4 year old into a screaming fit, thereby destroying naptime!

And, any normal mother would have squished said peace invader!  But, no, not me...

No, I'm one of those mothers...

I found a glass, coaxed him into it, {took his picture}, and then gently set him outside - where he belongs!

The truth is I used to be terrified of bugs and spiders, and admittedly, I still am.  But, as a mom, I suck it up - most of the time - and tell my kiddos, "Spiders are really good!  Spiders kill and eat bugs we don't like! Spiders are our friends!"

You know what?  My kiddos believe me!  They reflect what I show them. The olders tell each other how they hope to see lots of spiders this summer because it signals we will have snow this winter. {A wives tale my husband's late grandmother told me years ago...and I repeat often...'cause I love snow!}

How about you?  Do you save, smush or scream when you see a creepy, crawly friend like one of these?

The Dance!

I absolutely adore weddings!

 So much joy, laughter, tears, memories, hope...all wrapped up in one day!

 I love watching the little flower girls walk down the aisle.

  The dapper ring bearer as he cautiously carries the pillow.

  The nervous groom as he awaits his bride.

 The protective Father as he releases his cherished daughter into an other's hands.

 And of course the bride...oh the beautiful bride!

And what is more dreamy than watching the couple have their first dance as "one"?

 I also love the sentiment of the Father/Daughter dance.  For some, the bride has known her whole life what song will play as she dances those final steps with her Daddy ~ Butterfly Kisses anyone?

For the Mother/Son dance, Brandon and I chose a song that has meaning that only those closest to us would understand!
{Until Now...}

She packed my bags last night, pre-flight
Zero hour, nine a.m.
And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then

I miss the Earth so much, I miss my wife
It's lonely out in space
On such a timeless flight

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time ‘til touch down brings me round again to find I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no, no, no, I'm a rocket man
Rocket man, burning out his fuse up here alone

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them if you did

And all this science, I don't understand
It's just my job five days a week
A rocket man, a rocket man

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time ‘til touch down brings me round again to find I'm not the man they think I am at home
Oh no, no, no, I'm a rocket man
Rocket man, burning out his fuse up here alone

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time...

One crazy night, after putting Tristen to bed, Ken and I were doing dishes in the kitchen and listening to the radio.  A remake  {by Kate Bush} of this song came on and a debate began over what she was singing...why would a woman be singing she's a Rocket Man!  Well, having loved the song during my childhood, I pointed out that it wasn't her original.  And, as conversations go, I said, "You wanna' bet?"  Not one to back down from a challenge, Ken replied, "Yeah, what do you want to bet?"  To which I replied, "A baby!"  Being fully sure of himself, or maybe actually realizing he would lose, Ken said, "You're on!"

Ken called the radio station...and, yes, we were on the air...I don't think the DJ had ever expected such a wild conversation that night! Best bet I've ever made!

The rest is history!
